| ›A Conversation with Candida Höfer‹
A student of German photographers Hilla and Bernd Becher, renowned "industrial archaeologists," Candida Höfer has captured concert halls, auditoriums, cafes, sports arenas, museums and waiting rooms in portraits that, though empty of people, resonate in the mood and atmosphere unique to the "Becher School." In this conversation with Robert Storr, former senior curator at the Museum of Modern Art and current Rosalie Solow Professor of Modern Art at New York University, Candida Höfer contrasts European and American public interiors from a transatlantic perspective and talks about what influences her choice of subjects.
